"Using unrelated products helps designers to part with the interaction style that is prototypical for the product they are designing."
I thought this was quite interesting to read about. I think that often when designing something, it is much easier to refer to another similar product. Still, when you do that, you'll create a product that might be the same thing or just too similar to something that already exists. It was interesting to read about the revolver, which I don't think many of us realize is such a complex item until you have held it in your hands and discovered it. It's interesting to think about all a revolver's different moving parts and components when we might see it as something that only shoots bullets. Taking the revolver and then using it as  part of the relabelling exercise seems super cool, and makes me wonder what other gadgets around the house could be used for this.
"Designing for prototypical characters such as Jack ignores the full spectrum of human emotions, it only addresses those recognized as socially or culturally desirable."
I thought this was interesting because of how we designed and came up with our personas for our mobility issue project in the 310 class. But, I do feel like we did create our personas based on our target group rather than around an extreme charachter. I thought that designing for extreme charachter seemed super interesting, and also role playing as them to further expand on them. Deifnetely something to take into consideration the next time I get the chance to develop a persona for a project.
"some ideas for the appointment fan can easily be introduced to more serious applications. For example, by replacing ‘boyfriends’ with ‘business contacts’, moving the blades could become a way of judging business priorities."
I thought it was really interesting to ee how these product ideas developed though ghe differnt extreme charchters. And then, how it could be tweaked to suit other peoples needs. Soemthing that I wish is that we had this reaing before we started doing our own reasearch and prototyping for the mobility project. It woudl have really helped with widening our horizons and thinking about things differently.
